My daughter and I left on our vacation last Sunday. We made a stop at the Porcupine Mountains, hiking up to and around Lake of the Clouds. I had reserved a campsite in F.J. McLain State park way up in Michigan’s UP. We packed all our camping gear, clothing, pochade boxes, and 2 road bikes into a Honda CRV.

The weather was super nice and didn’t get above 75. We spend every moment hiking, biking and looking for agates on the long beaches.

Spent one morning painting along Lake Superior
Sketching, painting and gathering inspiration for future work.

Later in the week we traveled down into Wisconsin to stay in a cabin on Ranch Lake in Oconto County. While social distancing, masking and staying outdoors, we were able to visit with family members who drove out to see us from Marinette county.
I was able to complete a small plein air study of my aunt and uncles home to give to them before we left.

Somehow we ended up with more room even though we brought home a box of beautiful produce from my sisters garden and a bouquet of flowers.
Returning is always a mixed bag. Feeling that pang of leaving family but also anxious to get back to the area I love.
Stay safe and remain well my friends
Lynn
